October 8th, 2012, 11:53

hi,

My WD elemenst external USB 1 TB drive is dead, it not recongized anymore. I tried changing the USB adapter & the USB cord also.

I even checked on different laptops, operating systems also still no luck. When i start the drive i hear 10-12 times access sound and after that it just dies. I even tried the Freezer solution still it wont detect and start.

Can anyone help,Can i manually repair it is possible?

This one most likely has bad heads and now with the freezer antics you have possibly destroyed the platters and data. Send it a pro for a quote this one is NOT a DIY recovery job.

A simple search in this forum would reveal that the freezer "trick" is an urban legend that never worked for anyone.
