Hitachi 1TB HDT721010SLA360 with bad heads

October 17th, 2012, 2:06

Hi Guys,

I just received a Hitachi 1TB HDT721010SLA360 with bad heads that was dropped on the floor.
I opened it up i a clean room and find the scratch ring close to the centre (please see images attached).
I would love to get your opinion - do you think its worth doing heads swap in this case or chances are very low?
Do you think if I'll do a hot swap i may be able to read P-LIST? where does the FW is on this drives? the same location of the ring?

Please advise,
Thanks,
Oded

For me, more times than not, it is a waste of time, but you never know...

The SA should be on the outer edge.
