Hello Guys,
I've been working on this HDD all evening...
I've read a million pages and still not got anywhere!
Here's the scenario...
Got a Western Digital 1600BEVT.
1. [A long time ago... perhaps 18 months.. two years ago...] An old client bought a laptop wiped the drive and ripped it out half way through process...
2. Came to me with laptop and locked drive, i took the easy way out and gave them a spare hdd and did a clean install...
3. [Present Day] had this drive ages, thought i'd make use, wipe it and sort out an old laptop for my daughter... Following?
4. Tried several forums, mostly this one... been reading for hours, now getting head ache!
5. Tried HDD Erase (Not Working), ATA Password Tool (Can't get it to work)... been looking around the only definitive options are A-FF Repair Station and another identical bit of kit...
I just want to know if there is a way I can unlock this drive nice and easy so I can wipe it and make good use of it.
I don't want to throw it away and spend £30 or so (yes only £30) on anther drive when I have one here in my hand!
Please can someone point me in the direction of a descent tutorial, i'm sure there must be one on this site somewhere I just cannot find it!!!
