Good day all
I have an externat drive as follows:
Brand Fujitsu
Model MHT2060AT
Part No. CA06297-B306
Firmware No. 07C5-0022
Rev. No. A [double line over 0 1 2] 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
PCB No. CA26325-B17204BA
this drive is giving me a hard time! The drive itself is in an external enclosure connected to the computer with a data USB cable and a power USB cable
when I plug the USB data cable AND the USB power cable (3.5 mm male barrel plug), the drive is not spinning, no light is lit on the drive/enclosure and obviously it is not recognised by the computer. Moreover it crashes the computer quite often.
when I plug only the USB data cable (no power cable), the drive is spinnning, the drive is recognized by the computer and I can read the drive with Windows Explorer although it is very very slow.; also te drive is clicking!
I was told the problem may be due to the enclosure interface, and not to the drive itself.
could anyone confirm this diagnistic? and indicate what type of enclosure I need to purchase to access the data on the drive (SATA, IDE, etc..)

If you want to eliminate power as an issue, then buy an enclosure that is powered from an AC adapter.

My HHD drive is a 2.5" drive. three are thousands of enclosures on Ebay for 2.5" drive, but none with a A/C adapter. all the drive with a/c adapter are 3.5". So it seems I have to stay with a USB powered enclosure. Again, could you indicate what type of enclosure would be best suited mor my drive.
