Maxtor OneTouch II 300 GB Hard Drive - Won't Work (Pics)

November 2nd, 2012, 1:06

I have a Maxtor OneTouch II 300GB Hard Drive, that will not rev up.

I believe a 19V power input was plugged into it instead of the 12V it requires, and I understand that this is a somewhat common error and that a frequent result is a fried TVS Diode.

I have attached some pictures of the board and I am hoping someone with more knowledge than me can diagnose if this is the problem and, if not, what the issue might be...

I welcome any advice and proposed solutions. Thanks.

There are two 12V TVS diodes, CR201 near the power connector, and CR501 near the SMOOTH motor controller. One of them will probably be shorted.
