HD is a Hitachi Deskstar HDS722516VLSA80.
Tried freezing to no avail. Someone said to try replacing the PCB. Is this a worthwhile effort?
That being said, this HD crashed on me about 3 yrs ago and have kept it tucked away the entire time. There's some valuable stuff on here that I'd LOVE to retrieve.

I have more pics if anyone needs to see.
THANKS!!

If it is clicking, a board is most likely not the culprit. freezing probably did not help it either
I would bet on internal damage. Should be looked at by a Pro.

Ok thanks....I thought maybe a bad board was sending improper signals, causing it to "click" or something lol.
Actually, I know one local "pro" who suggested the PCB replacement, so maybe I'm back at square one
THANK YOU THOUGH!!!

as i said it is unlikely it is a board issue, as in it is unlikely i will win the lottery tonight
But you cannot just simply swap board with that drive, you would also need a rom transfer.
Find a Data recovery professional and not a local tech and have them do a proper evaluation on the drive to determine the failure.

GOOD LUCK to the guy who will service it if it was dropped

Most of the clicking hitachi i receive have mediadamage because clients let it click a long time hoping it would miraculously heal itself.
Result are some nice circles on the platters and "game over".
Ask a real pro to take a look before its to late.
