Actually the OP contacted us and was honest enough to say he put the drive in the freezer for 24 hours.

Of course not. That's why I wrote "just FYI". And SD's Doctors can be purchased individually for a lot less, as can the DFL-WDII.
Why did I post that information? Because I don't automatically lump the OP with the lowest common denominator of HDD user. Some people (especially me) like to know just a little more than that "it's an internal fault".
In any case that article does say that the problem could be a head fault, which would prevent the drive from accessing the ATA overlay.

This of course makes things even worse adding to the fact that these drives are beasts...
We have explained how things are and it's up to them to decide if they will send the drive in for evaluation or not. Evaluation will still be free, but recovery will not be cheap now.
