Seagate ST380011A HELP needed

I need some help on the above model HDD.
it is 80Gb P/N:9w2003-301

It was not spinning at all, so I bought a used working PCB... I replaced it and still nothing. I swapped the BIOS (firmware chip) so to have the old firmware on the new board and still nothing. The HDD remained dead.

Anyone can help me maybe more answers?

I think you need to give more details as to how the drive behaves in each condition.
"dead" or "nothing" can have several meanings.

So the Hdd does not switch on, does not spin and no sound atall. After the replacement of pcb and bios

Well then either your ROM is dead or the transplant of the ROM chip was not done properly (or the new PCB is dead as well).

the seller where I bought the board said he tested it and it was working before sent to me... Maybe I can try to remove the BIOS chip and re solder it...

That's a poor/messy solder job. How sure are you that the ROM swap didn't damage something?

The seller said it was working before he sent it to you. Was that before the ROM was swapped? I would put my money on the soldering process as the culprit here.

Just connected the HDD directly into the motherboard, as before I was connecting it to my external adapter... Now it worked with the swapped "new board". so its the external enclosure that its faulty then.

Now I have another Seagate HDD 1TB Barracuda 7200.12 which I connected directly to the motherboard and it is clicking for few seconds then stops. windows does not see it.
Could it be the board or what is it usually?

I see your from Malta? Where abouts?
Been there 7 or 8 times many years ago though

Whats the history of the drive?
Was it in a external caddy?
Was it knocked or dropped?
What was performance like just before?

Clicking sound & spin down is likly to be bad heads & not DIY fixable without proper experience, tools & cleanroom.

No it's not service for people but I have a couple of HDDs on my desk, they have been here for months without checking them and now I'm clearing up things.. So If I get them working they can be usefull.

I live in Mosta - centre of Malta. came here for holiday?

The HDD was in an ATX tower, never dropped, bought about 1.5yrs ago and always worked well... dont know what happened after only short time of use :/
