I had similar case with this error code:

---
SIM Error 203F
No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags 2002A1A5
---

As with your case had error when trying to clear SMART:

---
F3 T>/1
F3 1>N1
Init SMART Fail
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024E2D
---

A solution was to clear g-list, regen translator and repower drive:

---
Rst 0x08M
SIM Error 203F
No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags 2002A1A5
ASCII Diag mode

F3 T>i4,1,22

F3 T>m0,6,2,,,,,22
Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 16, Max Certify Rewrite Retries = not supported

User Partition Format Successful - Elapsed Time 0 mins 00 secs
Zone re-format was skipped.
F3 T>
Rst 0x08M
(P) SATA Reset

ASCII Diag mode
---

Good luck.

For knocking HDD, why you think is translator? does spindle stop or continue to run? You check ROM is native?

Are you aware of the non resident glist (NRG) and implications of clearing it?
