Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
I accidentally deleted 3 huge mpg files (about 30Gb each) from internal sata drive.
I didnt write on this drive at all since the deletion.
i tried several recovery programs like r-studio and recuva, none of the found my files even after hours of deep scan.
I've recovered files before and it was not that hard.
What am i doing wrong?
any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

IF drive being scanned is now an external drive and has not had any data written to it then Rstudio would find the deleted file if targeted to that drive. Possible exceptions that come to mind would using a secre erase product, tc- otherwise should be there.

What file system type?

You may want to try PhotoRec. I have had good results with this program especially when adding a custom file type. You also may want to check the file header / footer and add custom file type in rstudio and PhotoRec. I have seen this work many times.

I have used photorec to recovery over thousands of video footage. Unfortunately, I can't get a good majority of the clips to play in vlc? any idea on what I can do to get these clips to work?

@sakhan329,
Please don't hijack this thread with a different problem. I've replied in "your" thread where you've asked the same question, where you need to clarify the history of what you did.

Forget photorecovery!
Use Dmde. The free version will allow you to recover single files of any size and you are only looking for 3.
It has a hex editor and various other pro tools like mount the mft or deep scans etc.
Install on a bootable drive, not on the drive you want to recover from!
Better still, clone the hard drive to an image and then try recovery tools. Dmde can do this for you as well!

well ive tried everything, dmde didn't find my files and photorec crashes after 1 hour (tried 3 times).
i guess its a lost case

Use Dmde hex editor to see if there is any hex data at all on the drive.
