January 12th, 2013, 13:31

Hello

Have a WD5000LMVW USB 3 drive. Does anyone know which pins are TX and RX? Have PC3000 but not come across one of these before.

Thanks

If you can take some hi quality pics of both sides of the pcb & upload them it will be helpful.

Will do but no it is indeed a WD5000LMVW.

Ive previously used the toshiba terminal connector to talk to WD USB drives but no luck with this drive. Its only got a single row of pins and they are surrounded by a plastic lip

Just came across my own post regarding a SATA board for this. Anyone know what SATA board might work with 2060-771859-000? Its a WD5000LMVW-11CKRS0

Thanks

That's a new board if I've seen one. I'd love to know what family it is if you manage to get terminal access to it.

I would try a Firebird board 2060-771823-000

Has the same IC, and I think the same MC.

Only issue I see is that the 2060-771823-000 board uses a different U12 chip.... so soldering might be an issue if you can't get terminal access... perhaps they've caught on to our methods and are making this more difficult.

The 771852 SATA PCB appears to use the same 88i9346-TFJ2 MCU and Nautilus motor controller.

ill have a look to see if I have those here and report back if it works! might have a go at tracking tx and rx pins as well

pins are same as usb2 WD drives

I have terminal access with :

USB GND RxD TxD
___ I I I I I I

And PCB 771931 & 771959 seems to work for other users (not tested)

Did you figure out which SATA board works yet? I just want to update my sticky on this subject: http://data-medics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13
