WD Elements 1023

Hi,

I've got a problem on a hard drive and need some advice what to do next.

The hard drive in question is the following:

Hard drive size: 1TB (2.5")
WD10TMVV
External USB (micro-usb connection)

The hard drive swithes on 100% and shows in device manager but not in my computer. In device management the hard drive is not initialized and gives and access denied error when trying to initialize the hard drive.

If done the following:

- Tried different computers (Windows/Linux)
- Diskpart show harddrive but cannot do anything on the hard drive due the access denied error
- Data recovery cannot access the device
- WD smartware doesn't see the harddive.
- Tried different usb cables.

And there's alot of data on the drive that is needed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Skudor

I believe there is some problem with the smartware area of your drive, but it could be a million other things as well.

These drives are a pain in the a$$ and 99% are not DIY.

Since you seem to value your data, I suggest you to contact member Nick_CT who's in Cape Town (http://www.southbit.co.za/) and will have a look at your drive.

Good luck.
