Hitachi HTS543232L9A300 broken

February 19th, 2013, 14:16

Hi all,
I have a hard disk Hitachi HTS543232L9A300 that suddenly stopped working. I noticed that just doesn't spin anymore.

I unscrewed the PCB and I noticed a burnt chip which, as it burned, stained also the mechanics.

I have another hard drive exactly the same model but with different codes in the pcb.

I trivially swapped the PCB and, in this way, the hd runs but is not recognized by bios.

I doubt that I will be able to recover the data so I kindly ask you a suggestion of someone (I live in Italy) that can recover data from this hard drive at an affordable price.
Mostly are family files.

Thank you,
armando

Preferably you will need a PCB that have the same codes on the first 2 lines of the sticker ....

Did you ever REALLY worked with TOW(ADA) in such case ? All the ones that came here had catastrophical failure (mostly from notebook) - still have them as specimen for failure analysis.

And then did heads move / did the drive keep spinning ? 8)

P.S. on these disks playing the "board jockey" without knowing what you're doing is always a REALLY BAD IDEA.

Did not seem that heads were moving, but the hd was spinning.
Just the time to see that the bios did not recognize it, I turned it off and read this article:

then I arrived to hddguru.
