What are the symptoms of the fault?

Clicking?

This fw version drive (Apple 7.01) is a known problem drive and rarely recoverable.

Google "Seagate 7.01" :-)

Agreed. These drives are nightmare.

The heads were damaged.. I swapped the heads and at the first time I power on the drive seems to try to read but never get ready state.. After the first attempt it just nock the heads a couple of times and turn the drive of..

I soppose there is a damaged surface.. maybe in the head 0.. I was hopping to change the heads map and try to power on the drive not using that head.

pfff I know... I had more of this before but most of them unrecoverable
