ST3160023A 7200.7 - not visible in BIOS, terminal maybe ok ?

Hard disk working normally, no knocking etc. Recently you had two or three times plugging the USB adapter to be recognized properly. Today, nothing helps. Plugged into IDE cable is not seen in the BIOS. Starts properly, spins plates, sometimes going head to work.

Is there anything else I can provide to assist in the diagnosis of a terminal? The 7200.7 series, unfortunately not many specifics I found and ask for help and guidance. Recovery of data is not necessary, just the correct work / recognize the disk.
I cleaned the contacts on the motor and heads. I checked the pins on the IDE - appear to be working. Measured the resistor bridges the IDE, also good.

Of course, connected the hard drive to a desktop computer with a single IDE. I tried as Master, Slave, Cable select and 32GB limits - has always been not visible in the BIOS.

Does MHDD detect the drive ? Does it find "anything" whet accessing the drive ?
Plug it directly to the board and test it with mhdd.

Unfortunately, on my motherboard, MHDD does not find any HDD IDE driver (even good, which is detected in the BIOS and it works well). MHDD find only the HDD SATA drives. Other programs see IDE drives. I'll have to try on a different motherboard.

My guess is something broken on the PCB, maybe the ATA interface, like a pin on the IDE connector or something preventing the connection by ATA interface.
Drive is at age=50, so it should work at ATA level, and it's reporting Master too .... so ... my guess is firmware is ok.

Pin IDE checked by meter - look good. Arrange soldering again for sure. Resistors also checked - look good, everyone has a resistance, bridge resistors have equal resistance.
In the end, I'll try to buy the same PCB.

Are you sure all pins are ok on the IDE interface ?
When you plug the drive and power on the PC using the IDE interface, can you go to the BIOS settings and see if the drive can be detected there ? Maybe you have the IDE channels de-activated on BIOS ?
It doesn't sould to be neither firmware neither Heads/Preamp problem .... Did you try the drive on another computer ? Did you try to plug the drive alone on the IDE cable ? Whitout any other drive on the same cable even if it's a cd/dvd drive ?

Of course, another good drive (IBM) is detected by the BIOS and works correctly. IDE channels are active and good on the motherboard, other IDE drives work.
Of course, I tried only the drive (Seagate) on cable, no other drives.

Unfortunately, I went out of the house now and I can not do anything on the disk.
How do I get back, to try MHDD on another board, and I'll re-soldering the IDE pins on PCB.

Hello. I am now back at home and I can continue to repair the disk.

When the failed drive is set to slave, and connected to as single, then is not visible. I tried MASTER, SLAVE, CABLE SELECT and LIMIT GB, is always not visible.
When I connect to a good drive and corrupt drive on IDE tape, a good drive and corrupt drive is not visible.
When I connect to a good drive and good drive on IDE tape, a both good drive is visible (tape is good).
When I connect to a CD/DVD and corrupt drive on IDE tape, a CD/DVD is visible but corrupt drive is not visible.

Now do I have to upload the firmware to the drive? I found exactly the file you need to "ALPINE - 1_Disk M.14 01-16-03 11:51". File is expands BIN and the size of 65kB. But I did not find information on how to upload it. Did I do something else?

I am sorry to inform you if you needed data on this disk that you have destroyed all data on this disk. You can not issue terminal codes to the HDD if you do not understand them. I know the code you thought you were using were for all drives but the ones posts for the old trick as you called this one was for a busy error or 0 LBA problems. The HDD you indicated was not shown in BIOS. I think you should of taken the advice of the other one here and used only MHDD to see this drive. If your MB could not handle the drive and using MHDD then you could of tried on another computer. Right now you are done with this and there is not much left for you to do now. You have destroeyed all your data on the drive. I am sorry to inform you of this one. I hope this was not an important HDD and it was just one you were playing around with. Because now it can not read your data again. The answer to this FW is no you do not load this to the HDD now because if you can not understand the problem loading FW is not going to help fix it at all. Sorry.

The data on the hard disk is not important. Unfortunately MHDD does not see the hard drive, I tried on two computers. At the beginning user Spildit asked me to check the hard drive the program.
