i have a wd5000aavs
PCB #2060-701537-004 rev A
the customer has connected the power supply of the floppy drive to the pcb J8 socket![]()
!!!!!!
drive wonut spin at all now , a similar pcb for another HDD model was tested to see if the pre amp is damaged some how , and the drive spins OK .
on the patient PCB i can see the PCB printed circut lines burnt from the serial pins to some of their distenation![]()
do u think , fixing the lines (at least 4 of the 8 are burnt ) does deserve the time and money ?
or doing such a thing is useless ?

Does the drive click ? If drive clicks even whith a compatible PCB then pre-amp is gone. Even without correct adaptives on ROM, if PCB is compatible and drive just clicks and you can't access to SA then Pre-Amp is dead.
