Buffalo HD-CE1.0TU2 cannot be recognized by PC

May 6th, 2013, 17:26

Hi,

My external hard disk just became inaccessible by PC. I've changed the PC and USB cables, but still no luck.

Symptoms: Hard disk keeps reading for 2 minutes then stops, but power is still on. When I click on the driver letter, Windows prompt not FORMATTED. Linux cannot mount the disk.

I tried out partition recovery software and successfully found the lost partition (files are intact). However, no matter how I save the partition table the disk just keep the UNRECOGNIZED...

Surprisingly, when I connect the disk to the TV, it can be read! I can play video / music flawlessly and can even delete files from it. No more symptoms like the above.

Could anyone tell me how I can fix my hard disk so that it will work again on the PC???

P.S.: HD-CE1.0TU2 has firmwares issues as I google it, however, I cannot flash the firmware due it will erase all my data.

Could we see sector 0?

You could use a freeware disc editor such as DMDE:
