Hitachi HTS5450B9A300

May 30th, 2013, 6:13

Hi

I git this drive, that had a stiction (the client said that there wasn't no crashes). I have unstucked heads, all seems fine on heads.
But I found 2 light scratches on the outer edge of the top platter.
I tried to see if it works, but it clicks.
Can it be heads or does these scratches affect the SA?

Thanks

Honestly I cannot see clearly the scratches from this picture, anyway inspect first with microscope and check with donor HDA.
Where were the heads "parked" ? (middle, OD, ID...)

Hi

They were parked in the middle.
The scratches are very thin.

If you zoom enough the image, you can see it.
Thanks

Try to swap heads first. Then try to take an image as fast as you can.

Good luck
