Hi guys,

I have a 2TB WD Elements External Desktop Hard Drive which suddenly stopped being recognized by my computer after it froze when transferring data to it. I took it to a recovery company who attempted logical recovery of my data but told me that the data is unrecoverable as the T-Lists has an error and they sent me the snapshot I attach. The full history of the hard drive is that I dropped it once, though it did not hit the ground, but it worked for 3 months after that without any issues. The recovery company told me that it most likely failed because of the fall. When it stopped being recognized I tried to initialize it under Disk Management in My Computer but that generated an I/O error.

I'm no expert so I wanted to ask you experts out there if there is any hope of recovering my data and also if you have any advice as to what I should do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The T-List can possibly be regenerated from the logs, but it's complicated and beyond the reach of most data recovery firms.

So your question to a prospective data recovery firm is whether or not they have been able to do this procedure.

There are also other strategies... Everything depends on :
- sustained damage
- if the DR firm can do it , also see next point
- budget

Thanks guys. So all hope is not lost according to what you said. Now I know that it may be worth it to pay assessment fees etc. something I was really skeptical of before because I thought there was no point if nothing could be done and they told the same thing as the first recovery people I took it to

Hi thanks for your reply. Apparently that's the only problem he detected he didn't mention anything else. Now I have to find a recovery firm that can pull off what you said.

the damaged modules are marked as read meaning the data within the module is damaged as opposed to the module being unreadable. This makes it slightly more difficult as if modules are corrupt instead of unreadable.

Send to Northwind for a second look, hes very reputable and if your case can be recovered im sure he can get it done for you

All that is needed is module 31 (Translator - Plist)

Your wrong.
You need more than this, even more so on Sadle G6.

Also, 31 is translator, P-List is 33.

a quick format with P&G list should fix translators.

the problem is with the adaptive mod 40 which is red.
