wd15ears-00mvwb0 problem

July 13th, 2013, 3:42

Dear guys,

Recently my Western Digital My Book completely stopped working.
I removed the hard disk inside. when i connect it to my computer with a SATA connector, the hard disk starts spinning but i can't see it in the BIOS, so also not in windows.

A friend of me was also testing this hard disk, he said the it randomly appeared in the BIOS for short moments, but this experience i didn't had.

For further inspection i remove the pcb, what i noticed is that the metal of the pcb seems oxidised.

Is there any way i can still fix this hd?

Thanks!

You can try cleaning the HSA contacts with a eraser (I use a fiberglass pen) but I doubt this is your problem here, but there's no harm in trying. These drives suffer from common firmware issues (amongst other things) and are not DIY'able I'm afraid.....

If cleaning the contacts does not work, then you will need the assistance of a pro to recover your data..
