SAMSUNG HD250HJ - can't restore HDD native size

August 12th, 2013, 14:33

Hello! I am new to this forum, this is my first post.

My problem is that I can not restore HDD native size
Device: SAMSUNG HD250HJ (SATA)
Firmware: FH100-05
Serial: S0URJ9BP928522
Native disk size: 250 GB (decimal)
Actual disk size: 128 GB (28-bit limit)
Motherboard used: P4i65G (Intel i65 chipset)

History at short...
1.1 I needed HDD limited to 28-bit addressing.
1.2 I used ESTOOL v.3.01 to set LBA 48-bit OFF.
1.3 Disk was used for about a year without any problems.
1.4 Then I wanted to go back to its native size, and I could not.

Used tools:

2.1 ESTOOL v.3.01 once again.
DCO SET MAX ADDRESS > RECOVER NATIVE SIZE > 2 times "Yes" > "Abort command" on screen and nothing happens.

2.2 HDD Capacity Restore v. 1.2 / WindowsXP SP3:
Finished with "Hard drive is not accessible or damaged in some way. Therefore factory capacity cannot be recovered. Please try to run this program on another platform."

2.3 HUTIL 2.10: like ESTOOL v.3.01.

2.4 HDAT2 4.53 or 4.81.
- checking DCO: no errors; control sums OK
- LBA 48-bit: allowed;
- trial to set LBA 48-bit:
ATAreg FEA1 ... LBA3
...
Status ERR ... ABRT
Aborted command
Vendor specific = 0000h
Word location = 00h Invalid Data Structure Revision

Can you help me somehow?
Thanks in advance

I found more information about this HDD before I used ESTOOL v.3.01 to set LBA 48-bit OFF:
Samsung ESTOOL v3.01
FW: FH100-05
Current Size : 238345 MB (LBA: 488130921)
Native Size : 238475 MB (LBA: 488397168)

I do not know if it was the original factory settings if the previous user.
