Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Model ST3000DM001
Recently heard a repetitive beeping noise during Time Machine backup. I stopped Time Machine. Since then the drive cannot be recognized in Finder or Disk Utility. When I plug in the drive it sounds like it wants to spin but then does a series of 11 beeps then stops. Removed the HD from the case and used a SATA Drive adapter to go directly to computer - same issue.
Any advice?
Thanks

Most likely the heads are stuck in ramp or on platters.
Advice? If you care about the data, send it to a pro. Nothing much you could or should do yourself.

Agree with Jon. If your data is valuable, your best option is go to a DR pro and ask him for a free diagnosis.
