Consult a PRO DR Company if the data is really important to you..

Unfortunately, the behavior is not unusual. It is quite normal after a drop, especially of the drive was operating while being dropped. The HDDs internal architecture is complex and highly sensitive to shock.
DIY procedures are very limited due to again how the drive is designed. If the files are important, best thing to do is stop powering the drive on and consult with somebody specialized in data recovery. If you had a password set via Smartware, it will be a good idea to inform the professional of it.
*Do not expect cheap, like a couple hundred dollars, and could be time-consuming, all because of the damage potential.
