Clicking Toshiba MK5061GSYN

August 19th, 2013, 21:08

Hi – I’ve been reading up on these forums – I thought I knew a bit about hard drives until I found this forum… now I've learnt enough to know that hard drives are more than complex items and I'm likely to mess it up if I try to diagnose it by myself!

I've got a 500GB Toshiba MK5061GSYN which started clicking on me at boot. I would normally have this data backed up, however this drive was a staging disk for me when upgrading my laptop.

Drive details are:
Model# MK5061GSYN
Drive Parameters: LBA 976,773,168 Sectors
Cap: 500GB
SATA
Date: 22 Aug 2012
Part Number: 625237-001
Board numbers: G002872A / 002401003 / C31112 / 339V-0W

Here are also some pics from the damage. Drive powers on but of course can’t be detected by the computer. Does anyone have the facilities to remove the platter from this hard drive and install into a working drive? I work for an IT company and should be able to source an identical drive. If you have a personal need for a specific drive that I cannot source, I can also see if I can find one of them for you.
