WD3200BMVS strange sound/wont boot

September 2nd, 2013, 4:44

Hi,

Hope someone can help me out with this.
My Western Digital drive wont boot, it sounds strange for approx 30sek-1min before it shuts down.

Modelinfo:
WD3200BMVS-11F9S0

You can listen to the sound here:http://web.comhem.se/webdrop/drive-192.mp3

What do you think could be wrong?
Thanks for any input on this!

Hi,

From the sound and description I would say that heads failed (1 or even all), that's why it spins down, after calibration attempt.

The drive has to be checked and diagnosed by a professional, as I think it's even better to check if internally.
I'm sorry, but it's not a DIY case.

So in that case I think best option is to replace it.
