The drive started making some clicking noises while the PC was running and blue screened. Now, it's not recognized on boot, Well I'm not sure the name shows up but capacity is not reported. Upon boot it spins up, but that's all. I have my data on another drive, but don't have an image to restore this PC and that would obviously get me going the fastest. Any suggestions?

Clicking noises can be caused by the PCB, firmeware or the heads. What is the model number on your drive? Can you describe the clicking? Is it a click, click, click..., does the drive power down after awhile, is it a trrrrrrrrrrr or trrr, trrrr, trrrr sound? Also, be careful running a drive with a clicking sound as it could be damaging to your platters.

SAS drive, likely have a firmware issue, bad sectors... Hopefully it is not mechanical.
