Strange sound on HD103SI Samsung

November 4th, 2013, 9:12

Hi there,

I'm having problems on giving diagnostic to the attached sound. Could be headcrash, but it is deffenitely not on top surface and I'm not really sure about it. The drive does not stop at all, and terminal output is endless:

Code:
++ SU
MaxPhyHead = 0006
RPM at Handoff: 019A

And it keeps going that way endlessly.

Audio file is attached.

Any suggestions on the diagnosis?

Kind regards

Loss of servo + at least 1 head not working. Cannot exclude MD but only a complete inspection can tell , otherwise need a DDA and force positioning to check 100% without opening the drive.

Thank you for your replies. I'm opening the device in clean room, and platters/heads will tell - I'll post for future use on helping with diagnostics.
