Hitachi HTS725032A9A390 not spinning - no noise

November 14th, 2013, 8:55

Hello,

I've got this Hitachi HTS725050 which apparently has suffered from a voltage peak, and won't spin up. I can't spot any damaged TVS or R0 in the PCB (all seem to be OK), heads are correctly parked and spindle is not seized. Spindle coil impedances seem to be OK. I tried another PCB, from a HTS725032, and it doesn't spin either. All I get from PC-3000 is DRD DSC but ERR ABR immediately after any attempt of learning something from it (ID, etc.), as if HMA was not connected at all to the PCB.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

isolate heads contacts with paper and see if motor starts on power on
