Is the inside of HDDs governed by any standard(s) ?

November 21st, 2013, 6:47

Like ATA/ATAPI standard (for Host to HDD intrfacing), is there any standard that HDD manufacturers follow to produce/program the inside of HDDs, for example, a standard that governs the type of Modules, Firmwares used, where in the platters that those modules are stored, the Head mappings etc ?

Thanks for any info.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately in many ways) not.

Yes, the internal standard is "cleanliness is next to godliness."
