HDD with a case of altitude sickness?

November 21st, 2013, 14:45

First, thank you all for your great site; it's been a very valuable tool in resuscitating 10s of drives and help keep friends from forking over hundreds or more for data recovery.

A pilot friend of mine accidentally took his laptop up in an unpressurized cargo hold with it set to not sleep.

Now, the drive's spindle is stuck and there is a 'beeping' noise every 1/2 second. The drive is a Hitachi Z7K500-500.

What would you all suggest I try first?
