Hi. My Western Digital external HDD reads and writes very slowly (it took me 60 hours to copy what could be copied o the 1TB to a working HDD) in all sectors and diagnose tools show that some sectors are inaccesable completely. Unfortunately the warranty for this thing has expired. I was wondering if it could have a problem that I could fix myself if I unscrewed the case or is there no chance and the only thing left to do is put some magnets inside and throw it away?
The model is WDBAAU0015HBK-EESN 1.5 TB WD Elements Desktop

Might have a dead head or the PCB is getting too hot or the case could be buggered. You might as well take the drive out of the case and see if it will work on its own to some degree. Please upload some images if you do take it outside its enclosure.
