Seagate 1 TB ST1000DM000 noise and stays busy

Hi Folks,

I have got a Seagate 1 TB ST1000DM000, 9TS15E-570 FW:CC93.
When i got it from the customer they said that it was dropped slightly, then it worked for a bit and stopped id on BIOS.
I connected it to terminal and got the following messages:

I assumed it is heads so i opened the drive and it was in a pretty good condition and heads looked good under a scope. The only thing i could see was light curving of the external edge of the platters, but couldn't see any particles on the HDA filter.

I cleaned the platters very carefully with IPA 100% and clean room wipes and than replaced the heads with an identical donor heads from a very good matched drive.
Head swap went smooth and looks good, but i am still getting the exact same result in terminal and same noise, please listen to record on this link:

Any ideas what it is, do you think it is still recoverable or SA can't be found as a result of media damage?

Hi,

I did not yet listened to the recording, but have you btw returned heads back to donor, just to check if they are still ok?

I'm trying to avoid back and forward swaps to keep heads in good condition but i'll try it out if there is no other resort

It's a test that I always like to do, to be sure that it's not a surface issue, but a FW issue.

Last time I heard that noise I finally discovered a ring headcrash very close to the inner diameter on one of the surfaces. Did you check the filter for particles under a good microscope, or just by naked eye or magnifying glass?

With visible light media damage, the filter can still be clean.
