Have you checked if mod 02 (SN) matches your drive label?

Also, how many platters / heads does the drive has?

dragfly3 and kermit are different 3-platter drives.
Former is 500GB/platter and uses 1640 PCB. In your case, the drive has one or two heads depoped.
Latter is 333GB/platter and uses 1590 PCB. The head map is normal.

You should check Drive Parameters to find out the original number of heads including depoped.

Check also 8032 and compare with 02.

More help could be given if you tell us about the software you are using, how is identifying your drive, does it spin down after powered up or keep spinning.

thank u all for your ideas ..

am using dfl-wdii .

yes , the mod 02 sn matches the drive . and i have not seen anything wrong when comparing 8032 with 02 .

the drive spin up - keeps up - holds on a little on bsy state , then ready ..

am attaching mods 02 + 8032 + head map as it is when the drive came to me ..

thanks again :)

You can try also different head maps to check if someone before you disabled any head.

when i regenerated mod 2 , i noticed , slightly changes between the original one and the generated one ,, am attaching the two in case that change was responsible for the problem ..

See if you can start by using head 2 only, then try to read sector 0. If that works, you've got a bad head preventing loading of the translator.

The drive has 2 heads depoped in the factory.Usually such drives suffer further head degradation.
Did you try head write test?
