something went wrong ?

hello all ,

i have this wd1600aabs-61pra0 that was clicking ,

checking the modules , all are fine . , reading tracks returned track 0 of head 0 has bad sectors ..

so i formatted tracks 0-1-2 on head 0 and 1 and rewrote them back , as i have the tracks obtained from head 1

now , trying to image the drive , returned like the drive was zero filled ..

did i do something wrong in here ? or it was originaly zeroed ?

thanks

If you can read to the end of the drive, and there is no data, then the drive had probably been zeroed.

It's kind of dangerous to read & write tracks to a patient drive, because you may have a failing write head or some other problem that will brick it. Better to use a smart hot swap donor.
