Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello all,
I just received the wrong donor, as many of us once in a while. The patient drive is a WD20NMVW AV3 (Shrek LT) drive, and the possible donor is a WD20NMVW W68 (Shrek). In some newer WD drives I've successfully changed HSA between different families, with different results (poor SA access and no data access, for example, or poor overall performance). I was just wondering if any of you have swapped heads in such modern WD's, without matching the family, and what was the result of the procedure.
In case you did, did you use any DCM data? Since it seems no longer *that* important in some cases.
Cheers!

I'm fighting with a Shrek LT too, been dropped.
Tried 3 sets of heads (two from W68 drives and one from AV3) no dice, just clicks. But heads work fine back in donors.
Will try and find closer DCM match, as it seems to be more important on the newer WD's
