Hey, just bought a Toshiba laptop off eBay and it came with a HDD password. I've done a search and don't find
this topic listed so starting a new discussion. Some manufacturers have a universal pw for their products, Toshiba tech
support says they do not. Anyone know how to get past this HDD pw requirement? I have heard that you can swap the boards out with another drive but that means finding a similar one to this.
Thanks for the looking and any help ppl can offer.

Swapping boards on Toshiba drives does not work for that goal.

Go with your HDD to any near Data Recovery shop if they are using PC3000 ask them to unlock the HDD maybe they charge $10 to $15 for their service it take only 5 minutes this is a very best solution for you.
