ROM or loader? - ST35000820AS FWSD35

Are you looking for a ROM or for a loader?

If that's ROM, then I'm a bit curious: what do you intend to get from it? Adaptives?

Hello,
i think that he is finding donor ROM to access firmware AREA, then he will try to download copy of ROM from modules and try to write on ROM chip.

I really don't know if is possible to get rom again because some people say that if you lose F3 rom it's impossible to rebuild it, but someone else say that is possible to get its copy on SA (mod15 on CPR or CPF) if you can get access to SA with generic rom which has same fw version of same model donor drive.

Opinions?

Is this a lost case or can be done something to recover data?

To answer your Q here

you may think of 2 things
1- Size of ROM
2- Size of Mod15

then you will close the subject by yourself

Dipende solo dal portafogli e se si vogliono veramente recuperare quei dati.

Everything depends on money / budget and if data is really needed .

Could you explain how to go about this, and does SeDiv have such a feature?

FWIW, I notice that the SA contains MODs 4, 6, and 7 which appear to contain the necessary CAP, RAP, and SAP parameters that might be used to attempt a reconstruction of the ROM.

4 Servo Adaptive Parameter (SAP)
6 Read Adaptive Parameters (RAP)
7 Controller Adaptive Parameters (CAP)

A quick examination of an SD1A resource dump would suggest that the ROM's CAP and RAP are very similar to their SA versions, but the SAP has significant differences.

It's Sunday night, so I can't check myself to be 100% sure, but if I recall correctly, Mod 15 isn't stored on the platters, it's in the ROM.
But again, re-check this yourself, as I speak from memory now.

Additionally, same firmware version won't be enough for that.

I have quite little knowledge on this subject but, are not the adaptives necessary to get access to the platters ? If platters can be accessed using generic ROM (without the adaptives), what is the point of transferring those U12, IC602 or U5 chips to replacement PCBs ?
