Repair Rocstor Hard drive

March 3rd, 2014, 19:17

Hey guys. I purchased a Rocstor Blazer B9 500GB HD about a year ago. I have never had any problems with this drive, however today I plugged it up via firewire 800 and everything was working fine until it suddenly force ejected itself from my Mac mini. I unplugged and replugged it back in and it came on, then did the same thing. Now the drive won't power up, the only thing that happens is the blue light flashes constantly but I hear nothing running, nor does it appear on my mac. Ive checked different firewire cables, checked it on usb, still nothing. I even plugged in a power cable from the wall outlet and still the same thing. Is there anyway you can help me out?

I would start by removing the drive from the enclosure and check if it works when connected directly to the pc via sata, and if it spins when power is applied.
Then if it doesn't spin at all and if it doesn't any noise i would start thinking about pcb swap.
Do NOT open the drive itself no matter what.

Agree. But also check fuses and/or TVS diodes before proceeding to PCB exchange.
