Hello :

i received today seagate expansion external HDD ,

disassembling the drive , i found the drive's lablel to have a samsung-seagate brand names together on the same sticker !! .. my first time to see this kind of merge between the two companies ..

the drive serie is momentus
and it has a samsung PCB , and couldn't manage to get a terminal output ..

the HDD doesn't click or produce funny noises , it initialize normally , using my imager , couldn't get a head map , and imaging runs deadly slow , with hangs every 3000-4000 LBAs ..
any suggestions ?

It's a Samsung drive.

DDI or Atola cannot make head map for Samsung.

Possibly has a bad/weak head, but it should be noted that Samsung have massive head "zones", so I would expect large gaps.

I have 2 Seagates, 1 2.5" and 1 3.5" each from enclosures that are not working. one of those is a Samsung-Seagate momentus. I could get Terminal output on it.

many thanks for your info , any way customer didn't accept recovery fees , and am returning the drive to him , but would like to get a terminal out put first , for similar cases ..

i used to work with seagates with the very same cable , this is why am pretty sure that the drive is not outputting anything ..

even thought it initilise ( i can image some LBAs) ..

i will give it another shot before returnign the drive ..
