Did you you try to add a letter ?
Or simply search for a recovery software like R-Studio or similar and retrieve your data.
good luck

Whatever you do, the last partition is your recovery partition. If you don't have the recovery DVDs (even if you do, if you ask me, because DVDs become defective sometimes), you will need that partition to use the laptop.
Download Hiren's boot CD from somewhere (preferably version 9) and clone that partition to another drive, and write down its size somewhere (15.22 GB), so you can restore that partition to that or to another drive.
When you get another 500 gig drive, you can make a 480 gig partition, then a 20 gig partition, then clone the 15.22 gig partition back to the 20 gig partition, then use Ranish Partition manager or Acronis to set the boot flag on, on that partition. Then boot off the new HD and it will go into system restore, and restore to factory new.

If you can get another HD of the same or larger size (preferably the same model, or at least the same LBA) then use a disk to disk sector copy utility (someone here will name a good one), then you can try try to use testdisk or another disk recovery utility on Hiren's boot CD. But run a MHDD scan first, after you do the clone.
After you make the clone, it doesn't matter if you screw up the recovery attempt, because you can always disk-to-disk sector clone it back and try again.

You can try Partition find and mount, mount the partition and copy the files you need, or better still take an image of the disk so you at least can retain your data.
and/or follow Feklars last post, do it first, as this would give you a safety net.
After you have your files you can replace the disk, or at least wipe all partitions and repartition, reformat and see if the disk has actual problems or it is purely logical(software/corrupt files/OS).
