Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi -
I am newbie to this forum...
Recently my Seagate ST3500630AS Barracuda 7200.10 (500 GB) hard drive stopped working. It is not recognized by Windows nor does appear to spin. When powered up, there is no resistance when I hold it, so I suspect the platters are not spinning.
It makes a static sound and some faint beeps.
I recorded the sound, in case it might be useful for anyone that can detect hard drive problems their sound.
I found the DTI Base Replace V2 for Seagate 7200.10 data recovery product and was wondering if anyone here (or others you know) may have experience with it?
I *hope* my data can be recovered.
Thanks all- harmy42

was it dropped or knocked over?
The DTI base replace product does work, but it is meant for professionals. A standard user will most likely fail at most likely deem the data permanently unrecoverable. If it is truly a seized motor a professional DR firm. If the data is important i would have a DR firm evaluate it. If the drive has not been opened most places will give you a free eval.

Unless is is seriously messed up, should be recoverable by a professional lab without too much expense.

Thanks all,
I live in the Austin, TX area and found a company called FlashBack Data.
Do you happen to know anything about them?
I have left the hard drive intact, I have only have tried to spin it up, since I discovered Windows could not recognize it.
It is probably a few years old...
Thanks - harmy42
