Degaussing issues

March 28th, 2014, 16:46

Hey everybody, I was curious I ran into a batch of about 100 drives and not a single one of them would read or write. Some would click and most would not spin. My hunch is that all these drives have been degaussed. However, I have no experience. Is there any way to know if a drive has been degaussed?? Thanks for the help.

No-spin symptoms are most often due to bad PCBs.

Degaussed drives behave in a funny way in my experience. The may sing, cry, or sound like there's a party taking place inside them.

I have ruled out boards as I swapped many of them. some were singing the song of their people and some were just not spinning. Thanks for the tips.
