Repair Seagat2 3250318AS

March 28th, 2014, 17:05

Hello,
I have a Drive, that is not recognized by BIOS, will not mount via USB, and makes an intermittent buzzing sound (bzzz silence for 2-3 seconds, repeat) [not my video, but this is the sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=druaOz6Rx7c], no click. As stated above its a seagate ST3250318AS 250GB. Not interested in professional repair, I am willing to make this a learning experience. My best guess is it is stuck, either the motor is stuck, or the heads/platters. I would like to try some basic things (other than put it in the freezer) to see if I can get the files off. Willing to learn.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
JOhn Kilbert

edit: this drive did not fall or get hit by surge, It juist locked up during use.
