Samsung HD502HJ stuck on BSY ?

March 30th, 2014, 13:54

Hello ,

i have this samsung drive , that the customer claims that it stopped mounting after it suffered from a power surge ..

checking on the PCB reveals that nothing burnt , connecting the drive to DDI will spin the drive ok , with normal initialise sound , but the drive will stuck on BSY state ...

a very similar semptons to seagate bsy issue , but u can't get rdy on this one ..

am thinking of FW corruption somehow after the power fail ..

any ideas ?

thanks

HotSwap might help you out.

i did try hot swap , didn't work ( i donut have but 1 donor to try with :( )

the thing is i swapped the rom of the donor to the patient , and the pcb worked fine ..

so my 90% guess is that the rom corrupted during the power surge ..

can u please send me several of those 500 GB roms , so i can try flashing them ..
