All,
Got 2 quick questions for those amongst us who operate small DR firms:
1. When pricing RAID recoveries, do you use your normal pricing for all of the drives in the array, or only price the failed drive at the normal level and offer a discount on the remaining healthy ones?
2. When providing data back to the client, do you include the cost of fixing corrupt files (like MS Office for instance) into the recovery, or do you price those services out as a separate service/charge?

As far as RAID recoveries are concerned, I charge a base rate plus an amount for the total number of drives and number of drives requiring hardware level recovery.
EG. - Base rate $2000 + $300 for each drive over 3 total + $500 for each drive requiring hardware level repairs.
And file repair is different from data recovery. I let my clients know that I only get the data back, if they want me to fix it up after is an extra charge. But if it's only a few important documents I usually just throw it in for free anyway.

about RAID recoveries,normally,it will cost more than the normal drives.. so for your question 1,it is up to you to set the price..most dr firms calculates as what data-medics mentioned above.
question number two.. I normally include the cost of fixing of corrupt files,,but i named it as data forensic..and the pricing slightly different than the data recovery.

we usually price our RAIDS based on the total capacity of the drives in the RAID, and how many total drives are in the RAID.
But every client is different and every RAID is different.

1) Each case is different , diagnose and assessment has its own cost.
2) Separate service at extra charge.
