Any Way to Repair bad secs on SA

Hi Gurus.

I have here a Maxtor Sabre Drive.

Model : Maxtor 6L320S0
Serial : Lxxxxxx
Firmware : BCNC1G10
Capacity : 301,68 GB (632 672 208)

The drive Starts from SA copy3

then I can see problems reading same SA secs for example: 93 module from copy1

Any way to reapair this badly FW areas?

There is no way to repair bad sectors so you can forget about that. If you're using a tool like PC-3000 to read the SA you might be able to get a complete read of the SA and tracks using composite read, and then do a smart hotswap.

So what tools are you using to do it? I usually woudn't even bother to try, once I get a good read of the SA, I just hotswap using the patient SA.

I don't know about reallocating individual sectors, but ISTM that a general way to relocate entire modules to different positions in the SA would be to find a vacant contiguous area on a track, shift the faulty module to that spot, and then edit the module directory to point to this new location. I think I might be able to do this manually on at least some WD models using MHDD scripts.

You can also do that using Sediv for WD drives. Edit the Dir module, then write the module. You can move the module to anywhere, where there are unimportant modules (HZ modules) or to the end of the utilized area.

Unfortunately Sediv does not support Maxtor drives.

I've examined the SA structures of WD and Samsung drives, but I haven't done the same for Maxtors. Sorry.

If you could upload your drive's resources, perhaps I could have a look, or maybe one of the professional members could show you what to do. It might also help to know which tools you have at your disposal.

2) The problem can perfectly NOT be the SA itself, and the behaviour is a consequence (it's a Sabre....)
3) If you just need the drive and not data assuming everything else works you can do whatever you want from here
4) If you need DATA from the drive you can try to make the drive find what it wants. The problem is how to do with.... SD tool I suppose ?

I need data from HDD, i have access to copy3 of SA drive, ussing Pc3K, any way to start HD from Copy0 to get acess to data.

If it is SA-C it is quite useless for data recovery purpose...

You have to kickstart the drive and not let it start from C, assuming it can actually read / work .
