Absolutely.

In this case the better solution is to replace the heads for ones 100% functional and compatible.

Ok, ill try it, i need search for donnor drive.

In this case, unfortunately the chances of recovery are very few. With this damages in the platters and if the anothers surface above are intact, without damages.. only one our two people in the word have the knowledge and the tools to recover in this conditions. If you have the tools to change the platters see if the surface 0 have headcrash. If so, forget about it, no recovery.

Yes you did, if you unstick heads from the Surface first thing to do is to inspect those heads closely....or better, replace them.
In your case you didn't do that, and as you can see on your Pictures all 4 heads are loose, so when you start the drive they will destroy the Surface.
And with the Surface gone, all clients data is gone...

Yes you did, if you unstick heads from the Surface first thing to do is to inspect those heads closely....or better, replace them.

1º step:

start drive and atach it to Pc3K.
the Pc3K log was:

And with the Surface gone, all clients data is gone...[/quote]

2º Open HDD in Clean Room:
i can view heads parked into their corresponding ramps

3º extract Heads and wiew via magnifier (pic atached to this forum)

4º take a look to the platers status (as you can see to in pics atached to forum)

i do not try to read data with those badly heads, and i do not try with other ones.
in this situation i would to know if any chance of data recovery, before breaking other donnor heads.

In your case you didn't do that, and as you can see on your Pictures all 4 heads are loose

yes, heads are loosen, and when i see this heads losen i tryed to see if there was damage on platters without try to read data from HDD

so when you start the drive they will destroy the Surface.

i only start the drive to see drive status via BIOS and/or Pc3k, before to see damages on heads, not after

And with the Surface gone, all clients data is gone...

In this case i think the surface was gone before to start testing drive. the damage is not due to my testings

Re: not RDY SEAGATE Momentus 5400.4

My money is on the owner trying the freezer trick, which crashed the heads before you got the drive.

Re: not RDY SEAGATE Momentus 5400.4

The surface looks like it would after the drive had been in a freezer. If the owner tried that trick, he could have caused the surface damage that's on your drive's platters, which would have killed the heads when they tried to start up the drive after freezing it. It would look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad1uVAB5bNA

So you unstuck heads, they were totally screwed, but still you powered on the drive.

Given the fact (for me) that the drive has been in the freezer as well, and that there are obvious rings on the top platter, I would not waste another set of heads for this.
