Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi there!
I have a patient drive that clicks. With hot swap, i can read some modules form the SA, but when i would like to read tracks from it, there is tons of bad sectors.
So the drive can not load some important modules like 001 and 011. I dont want to buy donor drive, because the heads and the PCB are works fine (i have tested the drive with WD30EZRX-00MMMB0 heads), but i would like overwrite some modules, or load the original overlay to ram to reach data.
So if you have a firmware modules for WD20EARX-00MMMB0 drive, please post the attached archive here, or to hddguru files.
Thank you!

What version do you need?

Thank you thatdellguy for your answer.
I think this drive is only made with one version of firmware, and i think the "80-00A80" is fit for my patient drive.
Have you a WD20EARX-00MMMB0 drive or firmware?

I would like to help but your not asking for the correct information.

http://files.hddguru.com/download/PC-30 ... ty/Dragon/There is "80-00A80" firmware, but it most likely won't do you any good.
Firstly you'll need the correct version (the one above is 00250005Q), secondly you'll need to know what to do with it.
I wish you good luck

Thank you!
I have found that WD30EZRX firmware, and i have two WD30EZRX-00MMMB0 drive, but i think the 0001.mod is different. I have to see it.
And the WD30EZRX-00MMMB0 Transient overlay is not compatible with the WD20EARX-00MMMB0 ROM.
Here it is the WD20EARX-00MMMB0 drive's firmware params:
Firmware revision: 80.00A80
ROM Rev:20.5QP
Mod0D:0001000 (01.00)
Mod4F:0020005Q (20.5Q)
Controller firmware rev:20.5QP
Overlay firmware re:20.5QP
Servo Firmware rev:0C.05
Read channel firmware rev:G.00003A
Surface format version:A1.A08

I did it!
I used my WD30EZRX PCB and some firmware modules. Cleared Relo-list and P-List, rebulid translator, and BINGO!
Downloading data.....
Thanks again!

There's something i missing here.

1. Replaced PCB
2. Fixed some fw mods
3. Cleared Relo
4. Cleared P-list
5. Trans regen
6. Bingo
It does make you wonder if it was really fixed.......

How were you able to recover the data if you clear the p-list and then you re-gen the translator ?

I used the WD30EZRX-00MMMB0 firmware modules, and the donor's PCB.
The drive was identified with the donor's PCB, and firmware modules, but i cnnot access to any sector.
With WDR i cleared translator, and made translator regen with P-List, and then the drive could read LBA sectors.

And what about ROM ? Did you use native ROM from the damaged pcb, did you rebuild from SA or did you use donor PCB without ROM transfer ?

I used the WD30EZRX ROM with the WD30EZRX PCB to do a hot swap (it has a same head map and micro jogs). After then the drive could read some firmware modules (except some important modules). I copied the WD30EZRX important modules to WD20EARX drive, then the drive identified with the WD30EZRX PCB.

You said you cleared P-list. Did you ?
If so, what did you do to get it back and use it during Translator regeneration ?
