NTFS to FAT32 Conversion Failed

July 30th, 2014, 17:37

Recently i tried to convert my 1tb Hard drive contaning about 700gb of data from NTFS to FAT32 using AOMEI Partition Assistant software. things were going fine and was a really lengthy process. i decided to leave the process running overnight. in the morning i see that windows has installed updates and has restarted the computer. the process which was running overnight was interrupted and my drive was inaccessible. I ran CHKDSK /f on the drive and after 20 hours of running, i am not able to see the drive and the contents, however i am not able to access any of my files.

I would appreciate any help to recover the data..

Hello nvnran,

if data are valuable to you, then find some pro datarecovery service near you.
It was not smart to run CHKDSK on drive and not to perform backup prior convert from NTFS to FAT.
You can try with R-studio ( http://www.r-tt.com/ ), Get data back ( https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm ), partition find and mount ( http://findandmount.com/ )
But, if you will use this software to recover files, you NEED to recover files to ANOTHER DRIVE.
