omg at least write what HDD you have
First of all, there are very weird characters in terminal probably caused by some voltage problems in connection between UART and HDD, or voltage problems in HDD itself

I know its a Seagate

does that narrow it down ?

After seeing numerous terminal logs of this type, I've come to the conclusion that people omit the ground wire because they don't understand its importance.

Hi Fran
What you want to say
September 7th, 2014, 20:21
He is saying that the ground wire is important even though the circuit seems to work without it. Some people don't connect it not realising this.

Hi HaQue!
Thanks 4 your quick response.
are you speaking about terminal GND? or what GND?
September 8th, 2014, 10:47
just connect ground of UART (RS232-TTL adapter or whatever you call it ) to HDDs ground (pin next to RX and TX pins, or ground from power supply, it should not matter, they are connected together).
